It struck me in the opening of Joshua that discouragement and it’s companion, fear, can be dangerous.  Why?

  • Because both fear and discouragement are infectious to others.
  • Because fear and discouragement lead to passivity and inaction.
  • Because fear and discouragement see the circumstances instead of seeing God.

Sometimes circumstances require more patience, long suffering and trust than we previously understood.  Yet we cannot lose hope because without it, we will never overcome.
